Quercus nigra - Water Oak

A tall sized tree growing to 30m in ideal conditions. Native to eastern and south central United States where it is generally found near streams and rivers floodplains and the margins of swamps. The leaf shape is variable but it commonly has a leaf that is shaped like a spatula but the juvenile leaves can also be highly variable. It prefers a rich and moist soil in full sun.
